Web Analytics Wednesday à Grenoble.

18 08 2008

What’s wrong with the Web Analytics Association?

13 08 2008

It seems things are not going very well for Web Analytics Association online events lately.
After the big crash of their webcast equipment few minutes before the General Meeting, it was the voting process which was all messed up by technical issues and wrong links. First the link to the voting page was wrong, then the Ballot ID was invalid and we needed to wait for a third email before being able to vote.

If I was persevering enough to vote for the board of Direction, I wasn’t lucky enough to be available for the new date of the General Meeting…

2 weeks ago, we had a nice email from the Chairman apologizing for all the confusion around the voting process and assuring processes and review will be done to identify what went wrong…
I know how things can quickly go wrong with technical stuff but, Ladies and Gentlemen, please, I really hope you will take appropriate actions to avoid such issues in the future

Thank you for all what you do and the valuable work. WAA website is still one of my favorite resource on Web Analytics ;)

WAW in Zürich, a Small Success

26 06 2008

The second Web Analytics Wednesday in Switzerland was held yesterday for the first time in Zürich.
It was a small success…

Small because only a handfull of people attend the event which was hosted by Sogeti in the St-Gotthard Hôtel.

A success because of the very high quality of the discussions.

After few words of introduction which gave me the opportunity to announce my nomination as Country Manager for the Web Analytics Association, Ueli Preisig from Unic presented “The New Language of Marketing: From the Four P’s to the Four R’s” according to Webtrends.
Due to the small audience, we were able to share our experiences and to exchange a lot about Web Analytics activities in the German Speaking Area. It results from the discussions that people are doing web analytics for few years already and more and more actors are showing interest for WA including but not only the SEM/SEO companies.

People present yesterday told me they had impression to be alone in the world of Web Analytics and are greatfull to see there are other professionals in Switzerland and are eager to participate to the community.

I am personally happy with this session, I am now sure there are great professionals in German Speaking area who will support the WAA efforts in promoting the activity and building the community.

Thank you to people who were there yesterday. I’m looking forward to the next session.

First Web Analytics Wednesday in Geneva…

28 04 2008

French version of this post

Jmarc Vandenabeele introducing First Web Analytics Wednesday in Geneva…was held last Wednesday. 30 participants came for an afternoon talking about Web Analytics.

This half-day sponsored by Sogeti started with a short introduction to the Web Analytics Wednesday concept and the Web Analytics Association followed by an excerpt of the Outlook 2008 survey report conducted by the WAA end of last year. This gave to the audience a good overview and a better understanding of the context of Web Analytics all over the world and the possibility to better position themsleve in this new field.

Then Julien Coquet, the new Country Manager France for the Web Analytics Association, talked about the KPIs in a presentation that have been much appreciated by the audience.
We had then a small presentation about the different profiles you can face to when you work on an Web Analytics project and the necessity to introduce and set up processes. The afternoon ended with a buffet where participants were able to continue discussion around a glass of wine.

Unfortunately, we were not able to have a testimony of implementation and use of web analytics on a real case (Nestlé) as planned. And according to the feedback we had, this was missing to the majority who would have like to talk about a real case study.

I voluntarily wanted this first edition a little bit more formal in order to emphasize the message about necessity to build a community around Web Analytics in Switzerland, however 46% of participants would like more interactivity and 38% suggest discussion and sharing about real case studies for the next sessions.

Finaly,

  • 90% of participants would like to participate to other Web Analytics Wednesday
  • 90% of participants would like to participate to other events around Web Analytics
  • So, let’s meet on the next Web Analytics Wednesday in Switzerland.
